Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Pervin Buldan stated on Tuesday that Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP)-Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) coalition’s election campaign has started with war and added, “I would like to say very clearly to the government that embraced the politics of war; your games won’t work.”
At the HDP Parliamentary Women’s Group meeting held as part of the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan spoke regarding the Turkish state’s recent attacks into northeast Syria.
“Seeing that it will lose, the AKP-MHP alliance has started an election campaign with war policies to prolong its political life,” said Buldan.
Buldan argued that the bomb attack which took place in Taksim, İstanbul a week before Turkey’s air strikes on civilian settlements in North and East Syria was not a coincidence.
“As the AKP-MHP government claims, the democratic administration model in North and East Syria is not a threat to Turkey. The real threat to people’s common future is the war policies imposed by the AKP-MHP,” Buldan added.
Pointing out that dialogue and negotiation is the solution to Turkey’s issues, Buldan said that nothing has been solved with policies of conflict and violence, and called on the Turkish government to immediately put an end to its war policies.
Buldan also emphasised that no one should remain silent against war policies and invited the democratic community, people of conscience, and everyone who supports peace, to come together to forge a common democratic future.
The co-chair stated that HDP is ready and determined to fulfil all its responsibilities in the face of all wars and conflict, including on this particular issue.
