The media centre of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has issued a statement denying claims that a car bomb intercepted in Aleppo originated from the area controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The allegations were carried by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), a state-run news agency. The denial issued on Saturday by the SDF, the military arm of the AANES, described the allegations as “false, premature and lacking any factual evidence or transparent investigation”.
The statement went on to note that “the regions separating the areas controlled by [AANES] and Aleppo are full of mercenary factions affiliated to Turkey. These groups have every interest in destabilising security and stability and sabotaging the positive atmosphere fostered by the ongoing dialogue between our forces and the Military Operations Administration in Damascus”.
In conclusion, the SDF statement reiterated its willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities within the Damascus administration to identify the actual perpetrators.
This last message comes as the AANES has been pushing and encouraging dialogue
with the new transitional government in Damascus. Only a few days ago, AANES co-chair Hussein Othman, said that the transitional government must reflect the diverse fabric of Syrian society, including ethnic minorities, women and religious groups.
