A delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic visited the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) on 18 July to receive seven Islamic State (ISIS) women and 15 children, Kyrgyz nationals.
A delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic, led by Bakit Kadyrov, representative of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Fener al-Kait, co-chair of the AANES Foreign Relations Department, Golestan Ali, co-deputy of the AANES Foreign Relations Department, and Khaled Ibrahim, member of the AANES Foreign Relations Department’s Board of Directors.
“The Turkish attacks on the Autonomous Administration areas harm the war against ISIS,” stated al-Kait, adding that these actions undermine the deportation process of ISIS families. “ISIS is taking advantage of what is happening to organise its ranks and launch attacks on our regions,” he warned.
Kadyrov, representing the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude towards AANES and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for their cooperation. “I would like to thank the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces and all partners who contributed to the success of our sixth mission to recover our nationals from ISIS families,” he said.
Al-Kait emphasised the need for international support, noting, “We hope for the contribution of the State of Kyrgyzstan and all friendly countries to support our regions in all fields so that they can eliminate terrorism intellectually and militarily.”
Kadyrov acknowledged the sacrifices made by AANES and the SDF in combating ISIS, stressing Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to the stability and security of North and East Syria. “Kyrgyzstan is interested in the stability and security of the regions of northern and eastern Syria, its friendly people, and their continued progress, prosperity and well-being,” he added.
The meeting concluded with the formal handover of the 15 children and seven women to the Kyrgyz delegation, ratified through an official document between the two parties.
