Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus emphasised the urgent need to resolve the twice-delayed trial of Deniz Bülbün, highlighting it as a critical issue, alongside calling for unity against Turkey’s ongoing military actions and occupation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), during his a visit to political parties in Erbil (Hewlêr) on Tuesday.
KNK Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus visited the Kurdistan Communist Party, Kurdistan Labourers’ Party and Kurdistan Democratic People’s Movement in Erbil, addressing the key issues.
Karamus was welcomed by Kurdistan Labourers’ Party Secretary Belen Abdulla and party members. He later visited the Kurdistan Communist Party, where he was greeted by Central Committee Secretary Dr. Kawe Mahmud.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Karamus underscored the significance of resolving Deniz Bülbün’s case, which has been postponed twice. Discussions also encompassed the Turkey’s military actions in Iraqi Kurdistan, emphasising the need for all Kurdish political parties to unite under a national project.
Deniz Bülbün, a Kurdish activist and KNK representative in the KRI, was killed in Erbil on 18 September. The legal proceedings regarding his murder have faced two postponements, complicating the pursuit of justice. Two Turkish nationals have been arrested for alleged involvement, accused of financing and providing the murder weapon. The main suspect, an Arab from Baghdad identified as the shooter, remains at large.
Karamus’s engagements with political parties in Erbil are expected to continue in the coming days, focusing on fostering cooperation and addressing critical regional issues.
