People in the city of Qamislo in northeast Syria took to the streets for the funeral of three individuals killed in a drone strike on Tuesday.
Three members of the Gulo family were killed in the strike, reportedly carried out by Turkey in Qamislo, one of the largest urban centres in the region governed by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
Thousands of people joined the funeral procession held for Yûsif Gulo and his grandsons Mazlum and Mihemed Gulo. The procession took place after a declaration of mourning for the three martyrs.
Earlier in the morning, a mass protest was held against the Turkish drone strike where thousands attended.
Turkey has been intensifying its aerial attacks in North and East Syria (Rojava) as it continues to signal a new military incursion into the region.
Recently, three fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were targeted and killed in a Turkish drone strike on 23 October as they were visiting the city of Kobane for medical treatment.
On 20 October, two individuals were killed and three injured in a civilian vehicle hit by a Turkish drone strike in Kobane. The strike was conducted on the fourth anniversary of the defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS) by the SDF.
