Three individuals from the same family were killed in a drone strike on Tuesday in a neighbourhood of Qamishli, a city on the Syria-Turkey border, reported Roj News.
The 3 people killed in the civilian vehicle in the neighbourhood of Hilêliyê have been identified as Yusuf Gulo, Mazlum Mustafa Gulo, Mihemed Mehmud Gulo.
The Internal Security Forces of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) made a statement after the incident calling upon international powers to ‘assume their responsibilities’ for the protection of peace and stability in the region. The statement also held Turkey directly responsible for the drone strike.
“An unmanned aerial vehicle of the occupying Turkish state targeted a civilian vehicle in Qamishli’s neighbourhood of Hilêliyê. The Turkish state is violating international agreements and laws, and committing crimes,” it said, and added:
“As the Internal Security Forces we will perform our duties of protecting the people and maintaining security. We call upon the international powers responsible for the security of the region to perform their duties. Our people have secured stability at high costs in a struggle against terrorist groups. However, such crimes enable terrorist groups to reorganise and spread terror in all parts of the World.”
The General Assembly of the Democratic Unity Party (PYD), on the other hand, urged the international public to condemn the Turkish state’s attacks against the peoples of North and East Syria.
After the incident Ehmed Gulo whose brother and two nephews were killed in the strike called for the unity of the Kurdish people.
“We won’t submit to cowards. Let us continue to struggle for our rights,” he said to a crowd gathered around him.
