📍Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Williams has called for the release of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, stressing that his continued imprisonment hinders peace efforts in Turkey.
📍Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party has fully committed to Öcalan’s historic peace call, initiating over 100 meetings across Turkey in a major mobilisation effort.
📍The Kurdish leader’s disarmament call reaches beyond the PKK, applying to Syria Kurdish groups, says DEM MP Önder, announcing a delegation visit to help build a new, inclusive Syria.
📍And DEM’s Youth Assembly lit the first Newroz 2025 fires in Öcalan’s home village in south east Turkey, while celebrations also kicked off in Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan.
