The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK) has called upon the Iraqi Kurdistan (Bashur Kurdistan) government to pay oil revenues to the central government as part of an agreement to solve the salary problem of civil servants.
Iraq is a federal country consisting of 18 governorates. Three of those governorates are administered by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). According to Hawar News, the Iraqi national government earns revenue from oil extraction and then redistributes to provincial and regional governments.
In their statement, the YNK called upon the Iraqi Kurdistan government to abide by the agreement signed with the Iraqi central government and to fulfill its responsibilities. The YNK demanded that the Iraqi Kurdistan government hand over the oil revenues to the central government as agreed so that civil servants can be paid.
