Women from Afrin protest Turkey’s attacks on Tall Rifat

Women from Afrin protest Turkey’s attacks on Tall Rifat

Three woman from Afrin (Efrîn) who had to leave their homes after Turkey’s occupation now live in the Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê neighborhoods of Aleppo. They spoke to Hawar News about the latest attacks on Tall Rifat.

Ewaş Mihemed pointed out the crimes committed by Turkey and its mercenaries. “Turkey is continuously violating international law and committing crimes in Afrin and Shahba. What do they want from innocent civilians?” she asked.

‘We will never give up our lands’

Fidan Tofan is another woman from Afrin who had to leave her home and now lives in Aleppo. “We as Kurdish people will not surrender”, said Tofan, underlining that they are guided by the philosophy of Kurdistan Workers’ Party leader Abdullah Öcalan.

“We will never give up from our lands”, said Tofan. “We won’t leave Afrin to occupiers. We will never forget the massacres that Turkey and its mercenaries committed in Afrin”.

Leyla Ali Ehmed agreed, and condemned Turkey’s anti-refugee politics. “Turkey is attacking refugees. We as people of Afrin were forced to leave our lands. We had to because Turkey was attacking both women and children”.

Ehmed went on to say that “The massacre in Tall Rifat is not the first”, adding that Turkey is “continuously attacking. They are against the freedom of Kurds. But we as people of Afrin will continue to resist. We will not leave even an inch of land to the occupiers. We will continue our resistance until we return home”.
