The vigil launched by the Yazidi people in the Sinjar region of Iraqi Kurdistan to protest the agreement between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) continues on its 54th day in front of the Sinjar Asayish Centre.
The Sinjar Autonomous Assembly and non-governmental organisations also participated in the action under the motto “We are all Asayish”. People of Sinjar, who support the action, have said they will continue until their demands are met.
Sinjar Culture and Art Committee member Sofyan Şengalî, who attended the vigil, said, “All the evil plans against Sinjar have been backed by Turkey and [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan’s government. Erdoğan aims to frighten the Yazidi community with fighter jets. However, we will resist these evil games until the end”.
Another supporter of the vigil, Delal Şengalî, said that young people and women would keep resisting until the existence of the Sinjar Autonomous Administration and Yazidi Asayish (Êzidxan Asayiş) were recognised.
