Two kolbers (cross-border labourers) have been shot on the Iran-Turkey border, according to a report by the Mesopotamia Agency.
Misleh Kasimî (23) was killed and his brother Mislim Kasimî (22) was injured in the incident, which occurred in the area between the Iranian border village of Koranê and Turkey’s Esendere region on October 31.
Misleh Kasimî died in hospital. His brother Mislim is said to be in recovery.
A relative, Kemal Alizade, said the incident took place at 04:00 on 31 October.
Alizade said that soldiers shot the two brothers when they were returning to Iran. According to Alizade, two bullets hit Misleh’s heart, and another two struck Mislim’s left leg..
The Kurdistan Human Rights Association’s data shows that in the last three years at least 245 kolbers have died and more than 300 have been injured.
Last year, 35 kolbers died on the Iran-Turkey border.
