Three civilians were injured as a result of a Turkish shelling targeting a village situated southwest of Tal Tamr (Til Temir) town in northwest al-Hasakah Governorate in northeast Syria on Sunday, Hawar News Agency reported.
The incident follows more than 40 artillery attacks carried out by Turkish forces against Afrin (Efrîn) and Shahba (Şehba) on Saturday, in which one civilian was critically injured.
Another drone attack on a village in Qamushli (Qamişlo) resulted in the death of four Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters on Friday.
Tal Tamr, a town with a population of approximately 25,000 residents, lies 30 km from the Syrian-Turkish border, and holds significant strategic importance as a pivotal junction on the M4 Highway linking al-Hasakah (Hesekê) Governorate in the northeast of the country to Aleppo Governorate in the northwest.
For over two years, the town has been persistently under attack by Turkish forces and their allied armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army.
In the wake of escalating Turkish military attacks, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) released a statement on Sunday denouncing Russia and the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat Islamic State (ISIS), guarantors of a 2019 ceasefire agreement, for their silence regarding the persistent Turkish attacks on Kurdish-held areas in northern Syria.
The administration further asserted that Turkey’s actions were driven by internal and external political challenges, including economic struggles, which have intensified its aggression against Kurdish-led parts of Syria.
