A Turkish ariel bombardment in Duhok Governorate, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) left one dead and another critically injured during the early hours of 18 July, Roj News reported.
Osman Ruştî Mêrvansî (32) was reportedly killed whilst beekeeping near the village of Şêladiz, in Duhok’s Amedi (Amêdî) district. He was an off-duty peshmerga, a member of the local security forces. Mêrvansî’s body was transported back to the village on a horse.
The attack comes as part of Turkey’s latest cross-border military incursion into the region, citing operations against Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) militants, which ramped up in June. Since January, Turkish attacks in the Kurdistan Region have killed a total of 13 civilians and injured 11.
