Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is concerned over the new Turkish threat against northern Syria. SDF commander-in-chief Mazloum Abdi said in a tweet on Thursday.
“Any offensive will divide Syrians, create a new humanitarian crisis, and displace original inhabitants and IDPs. New escalation will also negatively affect our campaign against ISIS,” Abdi said.
He called on actors to “prevent any new tragedies and support de-escalation”.
Syrian Kurdish sources reported more Jihadist mercenaries being deployed in Kurdish areas occupied by Turkey and Turkish-backed militias after Turkish President Erdoğan’s statement.
Erdoğan announced Ankara’s plans to launch a new military operation along its southern borders to establish a 30 km deep safe zone in response to what he called threats coming from northern Syria.
