Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave signals on Monday of a new Turkish incursion into north Syria.
As the Turkish currency has begun yet another downward spiral against global reserve currencies and inflation continues to rise in Turkey, Erdoğan’s latest remarks indicated that he would continue to invest in militarism and war before the upcoming elections in June of next year.
He said:
“We’ll soon take new steps to complete the work that we started, to have secure territories of 30 km in depth along our southern borders. The areas where frequent attacks, harassment and traps against our soil originate from are our prior operational objectives. God willing, these operations will begin as soon as preparations by our armed forces, our intelligence units and police force have been concluded. We’ll discuss these issues in detail in our National Security Council meeting on Thursday and we’ll take decisions.”
