Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) Foreign Relations Office co-chair Abdülkerim Ömer said Turkey carried out diplomatic meetings in relation to its plan to attack Sinjar and Derik.
Noting that they had faced Turkey’s assaults since the beginning of the revolution in North and East Syria, Ömer said the increasing military mobilisation in the region was occurring due to Turkey’s attempts.
According to Nazım Daştan’s report published on Mesopotamia Agency, Ömer pointed out that Turkey has carried out its assaults within the context of Turkey’s ‘National Pact’ expansionist plans and added, “It began with the occupation of Afrin (Efrîn). Then they occupied Ras-al Ayn (Serekaniye) and Tel Abyad (Girê Spi). Their dream is now to control the region from Aleppo to Mosul. Kirkuk is included in that plan as well. Erdoğan aims to be the new Ottoman Sultan. Their plan not only includes Syria, it also includes Libya, the Mediterranean Sea and Armenia. They are intervening in several places.”
Erdoğan may wage war
Stating that the Justice and Development Party (AKP) is putting the plan into practice in cooperation with his pro-political Islam extremist brothers, Ömer said, “Erdoğan is serious about his threats. Once he has the opportunity he can wage war against Derik and Sinjar and a significant proportion of Iraqi Kurdistan has already been occupied. We, North East Syria Autnomous Administration, are preparing for it. Resistance is always our only option. We will defend our people and will against Turkey’s assaults.”
Damascus and Baghdad visits
Foreign Relations co-chair Ömer said assaults have been carried out frequently against their region in recent times, adding that the assaults have been carried out by the Turkish Army Forces (TSK) and Turkey-backed Syria National Army (SNA).
Referring to the visits of the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Ömer said “Those meetings are being carried out to develop these assaults. Turkey aims to play a destructive role in the region. Meetings carried out with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Hewler were also carried out to realise this role.”
Akar’s visit to Germany
Ömer emphasised that Turkey was prepared to negotiate with Europe this time with the same aim. Referring to Akar’s visit to Germany, Ömer said, this meeting will be about the incidents that have occurred in the region. Germany, in fact, supports Turkey’s policies due to the refugee topic.” And added that Turkey would meet with several parties to realise its plans against Kurds.
Negotiations for Constitution
Ömer also commented on the negotiations ongoing in Geneva regarding discussions for a constituion for Syria and said any platform would not be successful unless the peoples of North East Syria were also included in the negotiations.
