Year by year, Turkey decreases North East Syria’s share of water from the Euphrates River. People living in the region criticised Turkey’s lowering of the river’s water level and said it was a policy of war to deprive the area of basic needs.
Youth from Manbij (Minbiç) held a press statement on Turkey’s policy. Education Committee member Musa El Ilêwi read the statement, along with the participation of the Revolutionary Youth Movement and Young Women’s Union.
Ilêwi said the Turkish state used water as a means of oppression and tried to break the people’s will by cutting the water supply.
Raqqa (Reqa) Irrigation Bureau co-chair Fadil Mustefa also criticised Turkey’s policies and said it was part of an economic war against the people in the region.
