Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-presidency council member Aldar Xelîl highlighted tensions at the Rojava border. “Why does it not seem like there is any connection between Rojava and Başur?”, he asked. He stated that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has built-up its military forces along with the South Kurdistan and Rojava border.
He stated that these actions by the KDP do not comply with the spirit of unity of the Kurds.
“Is it not the practice of those who divide Kurdistan to shatter and set borders?”, he asked.
Xelil added in his Twitter account: “If so, why do we choose to create these divisions?”
During the ISIS attack on Rojava, the KDP had closed the Rojava and Southern Kurdistan borders and dug trenches to stop people from crossing over. These acts aroused great feelings amongst many Kurds.
