Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the head of the European Union delegation to Turkey, visited the Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey and was accompanied by deputy head Eleftheria Pertzini, Mesopotamia Agency has reported.The EU delegation was welcomed by HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, Foreign Relations Committee Co-Spokespersons Feleknas Uca and Hişyar Özsoy. Speaking at the meeting, HDP Co-Chair Sancar shared his greetings and wished every success to the EU delegation representatives on a behalf of the HDP.
Meyer-Landrut: ‘I want to understand the diversity of Turkey better’
Meyer-Landrut stated that it was a “privilege to represent the EU in Turkey as well as an honour. It is also a big responsibility. I have been working on EU-Turkey relations for many years, but this was a task that was always from the EU side. I am very pleased to be here and hear the issues from within Turkey. In this context, I want to know Turkey better”.
Meyer-Landrut added: “I want to understand the diversity of Turkey better. As far as possible, I would like to learn about the situation here, what are the possibilities and challenges for the future, all these matters. In this context, it is very important for us to exchange views with you and others”.
During the meeting, which reportedly took two hours, the EU delegation and HDP officials discussed EU-Turkey relations and exchanged ideas on the resolutions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and discussed the political situation in Turkey.
