Afrin County Council co-chair Muhammad Naso has criticised the embargo implemented on migrants from Afrin by the Syrian administration and stated that Syria’s attitude was similar to the Turkish state’s. Naso also drew attention to Russia’s responsibility.
According to ANHA’s report, the Syrian government embargoes migrants who migrated from Afrin to al-Shahba by blocking the transportation of goods such as medicine and food. Currently migrants live in tents under hard conditions in al-Shahba.
Naso reacted against the embargo in a statement where he said that the Syrian government ignores international laws, much like the Turkish state, and said, “The Damascus government is ignoring international laws with the conditions it imposes on migrants from Afrin. It allows nothing to be transported into al-Shahba and imposes high taxes on several goods. It does not even allow goods such as fuel, food and medical products”.
Naso pointed out that Russia was also responsible for the violations against Afrin.
