Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) after the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP)’s calls for HDP to be shut down.
According to Mesopotamia Agency’s report, the Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office Bureau of Political Parties demanded Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office send them the indictment about former HDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ alongside others regarding 108 defendants in relations to the 6-8 October Kobani incidents.
Investigations before annulment of immunity of MPs were also being prepared for HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan and another 8 HDP deputies.
The prosecutor’s office also demanded copies of those investigations. The prosecutor’s office stated that the documents were demanded in the scope of an ordinary examination, emphasising all political parties’ operations were monitored.
Filing a closure case against HDP may be put on the agenda in case that HDP is defined as ‘center/focus for organisation actions’ as a result of the examination/investigation.
