Thirty-five people were reportedly detained during raids by Turkish soldiers in the Lice district of Diyarbakır (Amed) on 19 January. This follows the previous day’s eight arrests.
According to the Mesopotamia Agency’s report, Turkey’s military operation, launched on 9 January, continues in the Çağdaş (Cinezur), Dibek (Derxust), Arıklı (Hiseynik) and Bağlan (Mişref) neighbourhoods of Lice.
One soldier lost his life and three were injured due to a clash between Peoples’ Defence Units (HPG) and the Turkish army.
On 18 January eight people were detained and arrested on the charge of being members of an organisation.
Soldiers also raided several houses in the Dibek (Derxust), Budak (Xezmaz) and Yolçatı (Sise) neighbourhoods alongside raids in central Lice.
Armoured military vehicles encircled rural neighbourhoods and on 19 January it was reported that 35 people had been detained.
Detainees have been taken to the Lice District Gendarmerie Station. The reason for their detention is unknown.
