Qamishlo (Qamisli) Opinion Leaders Assembly spokesperson Sinan Seydûş spoke to Hawar News about the Turkish state’s threats against North and East Syria, explaining that “The aim was to disturb the peace and trust of the region”.
After Turkey’s National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar’s meeting with Iraqi officials, Turkey began its offensive in the northern Iraqi town of Sinjar (Shengal) while also continuing to target North and East Syria.
Seyduş noted that Turkey’s aim is to disturb the peace prevailing in the region and to destroy the Kurdish people all over Kurdistan. “The Turkish state tries to resurrect the Ottoman Empire by destroying the Kurds”, said Seyduş. “The attacks target the fraternity of the peoples, the foundations of which were presented by our leader Abdullah Öcalan. Those who fear democracy attack democratic institutions and systems. They declared war on the entire region to fight the Kurdish people in Afrin, Tell Abyad (Girê Spî) and Ras-Al-Ayn (Serekaniye) as well as in Dêrik and Sinjar. It’s reminiscent of the great Ottoman dreams”, he said.
‘North and East Syria is a mosaic culture’
”Peoples live together within the democratic system in North and East Syria”, Seydûş said, adding, “Their model of living together represents a great example to the world. We are struggling to live because of the attacks here. Therefore, our people should be extremely careful”.
Sinan Seyduş concluded by saying: “Kurdish parties should come together and unite. Through dialogue we can solve all our problems. We can stop the Turkish state’s attacks on North and East Syria”.
