The book ‘Berferin’, which includes the latest poetry of Renas Jiyan, a prolific and an important author of Kurdish literature, has just been released.
Jiyan has already written 15 books. ‘Berfwerin’ is published by Belki Publications.
Jiyan announced his book release by sharing some of his poetry in his twitter account.
Jiyan was born in 1974 in Mardin. He is a prolific Kurdish writer, publisher, poet and editor who has developed an artistic and philosophical theory known as ‘çirukism’ (‘Sparkism’).
He worked as a teacher in government-run schools in the region until he was arrested in 2002. After that incident, he began working for Çirusk magazine as an editor-in-chief.
He was arrested in in a raid in Diyarbakır (Amed) in 2016. This arrest was part of an ‘ongoing investigation’ against a group of teachers who are members of the Egitim-Sen Union, a trade union in Turkey.
Jiyan has also written a novel (‘Spitama’, in 2016), a theatre play (‘Di Tuwalete de’, in 2006) and four poetry collections and also serves as the founding manager of Belki publishing house.
