Protests against the government’s withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention have continued throughout Turkey.
The ‘We Will Stop Femicide Platform’ issued a press statement in front of the panel where a large poster they had hung at Zincirlikuyu, İstanbul, had been removed. The poster had focused on a women’s petition regarding domestic violence.
Fidan Ataselim, the general secretary of the Platform, protested over the removal of the poster: “We do not know who ordered that and who put down this poster in the middle of the night. But we do know that those who are against the equal and free life of women in this country are responsible for that”, she said. Protests were also held in other cities throughout Turkey, including Antalya and Iskenderun.
