A protest action was held in Berlin in Germany against companies that sell weapons to Turkey. The protesters also criticised the policies of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).
Youth in Germany held a protest action called ‘Halt the occupations of Turkey. We bring your weapons back to you’. Protesters symbolically sought to give weapons to companies which support war policies and to the SPD. For that purpose, protesters marched through the SPD building using a panzer stage model and then issued a statement before the SPD building.
“We decided to hold this protest action after Turkey’s occupation and assault against Garê. Though Turkey withdrew from Garê on 14 February, its assaults in Iraqi Kurdistan continue. We hear similar reports regarding Rojava (North East Syria) as well. Turkey oppresses peoples. Those who allow all these incidents to take place are also the ones who support Turkey in terms of its military components. In addition, the German state is in the lead in providing that kind of support”, the protesters noted in their statement.
The protesters also drew attention to the fact that the SPD was covering up the crimes that had been committed by Turkey and was supporting it. They stated that they would continue to expose the government’s war policies.
