Police have raided the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) office in Van and detained four journalists. MA reporters Adnan Bilen and Cemil Uğur, JinNews reporter Şehriban Abi and journalist Nazan Sala were detained this morning.
The police raided the office and journalists’ apartments, seizing cameras and technical equipment.
Cemil Uğur, one of the detained journalists, had revealed the hospital reports of Servet Turgut and Osman Şiban, who turned out to be in intensive care two days after they were detained by the military operation in Çatak district of Van. They were subjected to torture and the hospital reports confirm they were “thrown from a helicopter”.
In addition, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies paid close attention to the death of Turgut, while police warned journalists and stopped them from reporting. “We will not allow the Mesopotamia Agency to make a report”, said the police.
