Mülkiye Tekin is a writer and poet who resisted patriarchal society and sexism and refused the life she was forced to live.
She was married through ‘berdel’ (bride exchange) at a very young age. She was not sent to school after graduating from primary school. Tekin continued her education from outside when she was older and now has a university degree. She is the mother of three children and author of two books of poetry. She is also an activist and organises workshops about domestic violence while sharing her experiences with other women.
Mülkiye Tekin is now working on her new book in which she will write about her own story.
