The Movement Against Racism and for Friendship between Peoples (MRAP) made a statement to support the march helded in Paris, France, for the freedom of imprisoned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The MRAP noted Öcalan’s 22-year imprisonment and the harsh conditions in the prison over the last 10 years, and drew attention to the hunger strikes staged by prisoners in Turkey.
They emphasised the importance of Öcalan’s release to ensure peace in Turkey.
In the statement, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s policies against Kurds were also criticised.
