Sixteen journalists were detained in late night raids in Diyarbakır, while the Kurdish-focused media agency Jin News reported that they also had their offices raided in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Five more journalists were detained during the day on Wednesday, raising the total to 21.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke to reporters on Wednesday, saying Russia understands Turkey’s sensitivities to the threats on its border. A Swedish MP Fredrik Malm says that Ankara has no understanding of the rule of law in Sweden, and Sweden can not simply obey Turkey’s demands.
