There was some positive news from the Kurdish regions of Turkey this weekend, with mothers gathering to celebrate and protest on Mother’s Day despite the risk of police repression. Elsewhere, a historic Armenian church was reopened after being damaged in Turkish state violence seven years ago.
Germany was also in the news, with a report demonstrating an apparent bias against Kurdish residents of Turkey in asylum applications. A group of Kurdish political prisoners in a German jail have further complained that they are being denied access to Kurdish TV channels.
