The Kurdistan Communities Union’s (KCK) Peoples and Beliefs Committee sent heartfelt Christmas wishes to Christians worldwide on Monday, calling for unity among faiths to resist oppressive regimes and build a democratic, peaceful future. The message highlighted 2024’s struggles and stressed the importance of solidarity in addressing ongoing crises.
As Christians globally celebrated Christmas, the Kurdistan Freedom Movement (KCK) extended solidarity and hope through a statement from its Peoples and Beliefs Committee. Offering condolences to victims of the recent attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, the KCK called for unity against oppression.
“2024 was marked by both tragedy and resistance. As we bid farewell to a year of immense struggle, we reaffirm our belief that unity, equality, and brotherhood among all peoples and beliefs can pave the way for a peaceful, democratic world,” the statement read.
The KCK condemned the Turkish regime for targeting Christian, Yazidi, and Alevi communities and for ongoing aggression in North and East Syria (Rojava). “The genocidal, fascist Turkish regime casts a shadow over the celebrations of our peoples, threatening their lives, cultures, and faiths,” it added.
A Call for Unity and Resistance
In its Christmas message, the KCK urged solidarity among all faiths to counter oppressive regimes and support an inclusive, democratic Syria.
“Humanity’s crises demand that our sacred traditions and celebrations be dedicated to solving these problems,” the KCK noted. “The model of coexistence based on love, peace, brotherhood, and equality must be realised, particularly in Rojava and Syria.”
