Kurdish software developers in the United States have established an informatics school after working on the project for two years, Özgür Politika has reported.
Renas Tech Information Technology School opened in Virginia on 2 February. Twenty Kurdish software engineers will provide an education to Kurdish people living in the US. At the school, classes are currently being taught through a distance education system due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
Renas Tech focuses on JAVA, Python and JavaScripts, one of the most popular software systems in the world. It also provides training on website design and software, mobile application development, programme and automation testing systems. Software engineer Muhammed Erim, one of the founders of the project, moved from Ağrı in Turkey to New York for educational purposes five years ago.
According to Bianet, Erim stated that Renas Tech was established via a group of twenty friends. He said: “Our goal is to ensure that Kurds who came here to advance their business opportunities can support themselves by gaining experience in a future-oriented sector. RenasTech has emerged to answer this need”.
The school provides scholarships
Renas Tech is a training school that operates without support from any non-governmental organisation or political party. The school provides scholarships and financial support to women, immigrants and asylum seekers who have no financial means of support. Currently, thirty five people are enrolled in its intensive training programme.
