The worldwide campaign for the freedom of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan continues in Australia and Germany.
Kurdish organisations met with Australian senator and Green Party Foreign Relations spokesperson Janet Rice in a Zoom conversation and spoke about the isolation imposed on Öcalan and the ongoing hunger strike in Turkey’s prisons, which has now reached its 85th day. They discussed the violations of human rights in Turkey’s prisons, as corroborated by the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT).
Senator Rice said she would raise these issues in parliament and discuss them with Australia’s allies in Europe.
Meanwhile, a travelling leadership library, which aims to publicise Öcalan’s ideas and his isolation, stopped by in Wuppertal, Germany.
