Reactions continue to mount against the Sinjar Agreement that was signed between the government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Kurdish organisations in Armenia and Die Linke (the Left Party) in Germany have protested against the oppression that is taking place against the people of Sinjar. Representatives of Kurdish organisations gathered in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, and issued a press statement to express these concerns. Şewra Gelê Kurd’s co-chair and deputy Kinyas Hasanov, Kurdistan Committee’s co-chair Sılo Dirboyan and Free Women’s Union and Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) member Jenya Qadir were present to support the statement that was issued.
Motion by the Left Party to support Yazidis’ self-governance passed
In Germany, Niedersachsen State’s Die Linke organisation held its ordinary congress in Hannover where a motion was passed in the congress regarding Sinjar’s status in Iraqi Kurdistan. The motion, proposed by Die Linke member Behice Uca, stated that it supported the Yazidi community in Sinjar which struggled for its ‘self-governance’.
