The song “Newroz”, written by Kurdish philosopher and poet Pîremêrd and performed for the first time on 21 March 1948, has been reinterpreted by three classical western female musicians.
Kurdish opera singer Pervin Chakar performs the song, accompanied by Song Yi on the piano and Ana Zambrano on the viola.
Rohat Cebe arranged the song, which was published on digital platforms under the Red Music Digital label.
“The meaning attributed to each instrument is different”, reads a description of the song. “The piano depicts the spring wind, the viola the daylight, and the soprano the sound of nature. When the song is listened to with this in mind, it will make you feel the arrival of spring spiritually. Bringing the spirit of the East and the West together, Pervin Chakar aims to reveal the great beauty of this classic song”.
