The 21 February Commission, which consists of the Kurdish Language and Culture Network and the Kurdish Language Platform, issued a statement regarding International Mother Language Day at Diyarbakir’s (Amed’s) Southeast Journalists Association in Turkey.
The Commission stated that it will shortly launch a petition aimed at Kurdish becoming an official language and a language of education in Turkey. Kurdish Language Platform spokesperson Şerefxan Cizîrî announced that the campaign will be launched on 22 February. The campaigners hope to collect a million signatures.
