Kurdish boxer Agit Kabayel has beaten Chinese boxer Zhilei Zhang in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on Friday night. The Kurdish boxer defeated the Chinese fighter in the sixth round to improve his record to 26 wins and zero losses.
Born in Germany, Kabayel comes from a Kurdish family from Pazarcık, Turkey, who were forced to flee to Germany in the 1980s due to repression by the Turkish state. Growing up under difficult financial circumstances, his success story shows how his dedication and commitment to boxing paved the way for his success.
In an interview with Skysports after his victory, Kabayel referred to his Kurdish roots and said that he was able to win the boxing match because of the support of his training team and his “Kurdish power”.
