The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) continues its attempts to end the tension triggered by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Iraqi Kurdistan through interparty communication.
The KNK aims to prevent clashes among Kurdish parties and improve efforts to ensure national unity through open communication and dialogue.
The KNK committee met the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK) in Sulaymaniyah city. The press was not informed about the content of the negotiations, however. Afterwards, the committee visited a monument constructed in memory of those who lost their lives during a chemical attack in Halepçe.
The KNK committee, who met deputy governor Kawe Elî, then made a joint press statement. Elî said that Halepçe was known as a peaceful city, and that they supported the negotiations for peace and unity carried out by the KNK with parties from Iraqi Kurdistan.
