The Turkish state launched a military operation against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Metina, Iraqi Kurdistan, on 23 April. The attack has also expanded to the Zap region.
The European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCKD-E) made a statement denouncing the military operation.
The statement is as follows:
“The Turkish state has launched an occupation assault against Qela Bedewe, Dola Nerwe and Kinyaş in the Zap region.
The assault launched against Metina and Avaşin yesterday continues to expand to Qela Bedewe, Şehir Munzur, Dola Nerwe and Kinyaniş, located in the Zap region.
The invading Turkish Army is bombarding from ground and air and targeting civil settlements as well.
The invading Turkish army, which has heavily attacked the region with mortars and howitzers, does not discriminate between civilians and guerrilla fighters. This annexation attack, carried out with the approval of European and international powers, especially the United States, aims to destroy the Kurdish people’s goal for a free Kurdistan.
Kurdish people should take action as of this moment to resist against these attacks targeting their lands. It is a matter of life or death, so we must stand up and take to the streets and public squares.
The Kurdish people should call on the European public to take action in order to expose the hypocritical attitudes of the United States and Europe. We stand up and take to the streets everywhere to reveal the fascist Turkish regime and the war crimes committed by dictator Erdoğan, and the goals of occupation and annexation.
As the KCDK-E, we call on Kurdish people, revolutionaries, democrats, intellectuals, peoples of Europe and the world, anyone who has the task of defending their land, to take to the streets against these invasion and annexation attacks.”
