After the Sulaimani Asayish (security forces) blocked the organisation of last night’s stand-in protest against the attacks of the Turkish state on southern Kurdistan, the Asayish arrested as many as 30 citizens, including Rebaz Hassan, a correspondent for the Fırat News Agency.
Citizens of Sulaimani city marched against the recent encroachment of the Turkish state into South Kurdistan, according to Roj News.
The Asayish, which is predominantly under the direct control of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party, did not allow the protest and stand-in vigil to continue. They arrested about 30 people, after barricading them and preventing the protest.
The fate of the arrested reporter, Rebaz Hassan, is still unknown. It is still unclear as to why Rebaz Hassan has been detained and there is still no information on where he is being held.
