Journalist Qareman Şukrî is reported to have been abducted from his house in the Komelgeha Sîrê district of Duhok, the capital of the Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The armed group, who raided journalist Şukrî’s home, is allegedly the forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), according to Hawar News Agency.
“Earlier in the day, armed men, who came with 5 vehicles and faces covered, raided our home and they took my brother Qareman. They blocked the entries of all the streets nearby our home and they also attacked verbally, our mother. They also raided Qareman’s workplace, messed up everything and confiscated all his materials,” said Zêrevan Şukrî, the brother of the abducted journalist, to Roj News.
The whereabouts of the journalist Şukrî remains unknown.
