More than 100 prisoners in Diyarbakir (Amed) Type-D Prison in Turkey were transferred in groups to High Security Prisons No. 1 and No. 2, located in the same campus. It was also reported that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) members were also placed in cells alongside political prisoners in High-Security Prisons No.1 and No.2.
ISIS members have been placed in every cell after three cells of political prisoners and they are threatening the other prisoners, Mesopotamia News Agency (MA) reports.
Relatives of the political prisoners have stated that ISIS members were deliberately placed in the rooms where the political prisoners were located. “This practice should be stopped immediately”, they informed MA.
Violations in prisons continue
Violations continue in prisons in Turkey. Hatice Arat, who is under arrest in Gebze Women’s Closed Prison, talked about rights violations in her prison in a phone call she made with her family. She said that she does not receive proper treatment despite being tested positive for coronavirus.
“We are isolated and experience various rights violations here. Our friends Hacer Halimyusuf and Ardıl Çeşme were transferred to other places for no reason. Everyone should take action against the things that are happening in prisons”, she said.
Arat also stated that the prisoners continue with their hunger strikes against the prison isolation conditions of Abdullah Ocalan and rights violations in prisons. “We will continue to struggle until the isolation ends”, she said.
