The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party has announced that the İmralı shuttle delegation will meet with key officials from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) to discuss the ongoing Kurdish issue and share details of their recent talks with imprisoned Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
“The İmralı delegation continues its contacts with different sectors of society and groups involved in the Kurdish issue, and this weekend we will meet with regional officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government to share the details of our talks with Abdullah Öcalan,” the party said in a statement.
The delegation includes members Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, with Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Keskin Bayındır joining for this visit. They will first meet with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani and KRI President Nechirvan Barzani in Erbil (Hewlêr) on 16 February. On 17 February, they will travel to Sulaymaniyah (Silêmanî) to meet with Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leader Bafel Talabani, KRI Deputy Prime Minister Kubat Talabani, and other PUK officials.

Previously, the İmralı delegation has met with political parties in the Turkish parliament and imprisoned Kurdish politicians such as Figen Yüksekdağ, Selahattin Demirtaş, and Leyla Güven. The views and suggestions gathered in these meetings were relayed to Öcalan.
Additionally, the DEM Party has kept the public informed about these ongoing efforts through large-scale public meetings and rallies in 42 town centres, where they gathered concerns, suggestions, and expectations to report to the İmralı delegation.
