Relatives of Hero Bahadin have condemned the Turkish drone strike on Kurdish journalists Gulistan Tara and Hero Bahadin and the troubling statement issued by the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) intelligence apparatus that the journalists were Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members.
Hossein Ali, a relative of Hero Bahadin, criticised the KDP for spreading false information.
“We are deeply dismayed that the KDP’s anti-terror unit is distorting the facts with false claims. Their statement alleging that both Gulistan and Hero were PKK members is completely untrue; both were journalists,” Ali maintained.
Expressing his frustration to Roj News, Mohammad Rashid, another relative of Hero, emphasised: “Neither Hero nor her family has ever been associated with any armed group.”
Previously, Bahadin’s father condemned those who invite foreign intervention into Kurdistan and denounced the KDP’s statement as “disgraceful”.
The condemnation of the Turkish state’s drone attack on journalists Gulistan Tara and Hero Bahadin extends far beyond Kurdistan and their families. International journalism unions and political figures have strongly denounced the attack, calling on Turkey and Iraq to be held accountable for these acts of violence.
