Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu threatened the opposition and pro-democracy Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) during the budget talks in Turkish parliament yesterday. Referring to the HDP’s criticisms against trustees, Soylu said “Tough cheddar (oh olsun)”. Threathening the HDP, Soylu also used expressions that acquitted the police that murdered Kemal Kurkut.
HDP deputy Kemal Bülbül criticised Soylu and said, “Süleyman Soylu committed the biggest denial and hate crime by sabotaging the budget talks yesterday. As if Yeşil (an agent of the deep state) was talking, not Süleyman Soylu. As if Esat Oktay was on the stand. Against the ones, such as Esat Oktay, who threatened our group, Kurdish people and the opposition, we say: if you are Esat Oktay, then we are Kemal Pir”.
Meanwhile, HDP deputy Meral Danış Beştaş also reacted to Minister Soylu’s remarks and said, “We witnessed the bottom of worthlessness in parliament”.
Angry reactions also spread across social media.
