Aygül Doku has stated that a comprehensive investigation into the disappearance of her sister Gülistan Doku has not yet been conducted. Gülistan Doku has been missing for 264 days in Tunceli (Dersim), Turkey. Aygül noted that the authorities want to close the investigation file regarding her disappearance.
Gülistan Doku, a 21-year-old student at Dersim Munzur University, has been missing since 5 January in Tunceli (Dersim).
Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is undertaking the investigation. Zaynal Abarakov is a suspect in the case relating to Gülistan’s disappearance. But Aygül Doku argues that ”Zaynal”, despite being a suspect, alongside “his family have not spoken so far”.
Doku’s family launched a sit-in action in protest against the way the investigation is proceeding. This occurred after their request to meet with the President and other officials was also unanswered. Gülistan’s sister and mother were detained for participating in the sit-in protest.
An investigation has also been initiated against Doku’s family lawyer, Ali Çimen. He is accused of “violating the confidentiality of the investigation” by making the statement: “There was no object falling into the water” in the expert report on Doku in August.
”As a family, we are concerned about the closure of the file. No progress has been made in the investigation carried out about my sister”, she stated.
