A new femicide report by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP) reveals that 300 women were murdered and 171 died in suspicious circumstances in Turkey this year.
The report reveals that 96 women were murdered while trying to make a decision about their own lives, such as wanting to divorce, refusing to marry, or rejecting a relationship, and 22 women were murdered for economic reasons. Women were killed mostly by their close relatives.
The report also underlined that it is very difficult to discover the employment status of women. According to the available data, 45 of the women in the report had a job but the employment status of 247 women is unknown.
