The Saturday Mothers, relatives of missing persons and human rights defenders made a statement demanding to know the fates of those who were disappeared by the Turkish state while under custody.
The Saturday Mothers demanded the trial of those responsible for the disappearances of İbrahim Demir and Agit Akipa, whose bodies were found after they were detained in the Hezex district of Şırnak (Şirnex) in 1991.
İbrahim Demir’s son Metin Demir was the first to speak during the statement and he said they have been asking about the fates of their relatives for 29 years.
This week was the 617th week of the Missing Person’s Relatives’ demonstrations held in Diyarbakır. Human Rights Diyarbakır (Amed) Branch member Fırat Akdeniz asked about the fate of Mehmet Özdemir, who was the father of seven children and was disappeared by being forcibly taken into a vehicle and kidnapped in Diyarbakır on 26 December 1997.
