Kariane Westrheim stated that Turkey is committing war crimes against Kurds in the Qandil Mountains and is using chemical weapons during its operations.
“Turkey does not hesitate at all to use prohibited weapons chemical weapons to get rid of the Kurds.” she said.
She emphasised that remaining silent against Turkey’s attacks means complicity, and underlined the need for an international reaction.
“All institutions who are silent are actually cooperating against the Kurds” she said.
Kariane Westrheim also drew attention to the pressures of Turkey against the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and said, “We do not need messages of solidarity, we must act immediately.” She called for urgent international solidarity.
“International institutions and commissions should act immediately against the fascist regime in Turkey. “Where are the socialist internationalists?” I want to ask. Where is the international feminist movement? Where are the politicians talking about human rights and democracy?”
